Living Close to Jesus
We are surrounded with so many distractions that make keeping our eyes on Jesus a challenge. And yet living close to Jesus is crucial for our growth as children of God.
Today I read some of Levi Lusko’s thoughts in his book I Declare War. Jesus’s last words on the cross were, “Father, into your hands I commit My spirit.” (Luke 23:46) They are also found in Psalm 31:5. It’s possible that Jesus’s mother taught and prayed those words with Him. They are words we could be saying often to God. We don’t have to wait until we are dying.
Stephen said similar words as he was being stoned for his faith, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” They are good words to use regularly, calling up Jesus to be near to us, reminding us to look to Him for refuge, strength and guidance.
Psalm 31:5: Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O Lord, the God of truth.
