What Am I Growing?

“But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live.” Numbers 33:55

Cotton fields

A few years ago I made a decision to discontinue the lawn service to control the weeds in my yard. I thought a few weeds would be okay.

Unfortunately, a few weeds became many and they crowded out the grass.

Once I decided my aim was to have grass growing in my lawn, I knew I needed help to get the weeds out.  My aim determined the choices I made for my lawn.

This is true for my aim to have the Lord growing in my life. I can ask myself, Will this help God grow in my life? The answer will tell me what I must weed out. He is more than able to help me put away what would crowd Him out.

Father in Heaven, Show me what is competing with You in my life. Make me willing to drive it out so that Your Spirit can grow in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
