I Don’t Wait Anymore

Grace Thornton shares her adventures of letting go of her life plans in favor of God’s so much better plans.

When I received this book, I was finishing up a Bible study of Revelation, in which we glimpsed the majesty of our holy God. And yet I can lose sight of God’s sovereignty when surrounded with the challenges of aging loved ones, strained and cut-off relationships, and settle for God’s help rather than desiring God himself.

Thornton lifts our eyes to want God.

The yearning we have for something better was referred to in our Revelation study as homesickness for heaven.  Grace echoes that when we try to fill our emptiness with earthly solutions, we can only be disappointed.

Read Grace’s story of living Jesus’ promise, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” She writes beautifully, pointing us to the only One able to fill the deep longing of our souls.

God’s Word, Our Comfort

New Image

The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me. Psalm 138:8a

God’s Word has been my mainstay in finding words to encourage my friend in a long-term acute care hospital.

She was in a terrible accident three months ago. She was crossing a busy street and run over by a tractor-trailer. Her injuries are unspeakable. It is a miracle that she lives.

Yesterday she had progressed to being able to speak through her tracheostomy tube. Praise be to God.

(I) have carried you since your birth. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
Isaiah 46:3b-4

Thank you, Lord, for Your Word that comforts us in times of distress. Thank you for Your promise to fulfill Your purpose for our lives, and to carry us as You have since birth.
