Sing His Praises

Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! Revelation 19: 6b

How often I attempt to handle my current situation or the circumstances of others by my own maneuvers. I forget that power belongs to God, and I can trust in his true and just judgments. And I can praise Him in every situation.

Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are his judgments. Revelation 19:1b, 2a

These are praises that John heard when heaven was revealed to him in Revelation. I need to be singing His praises now, every day of my life. How easily I slip into my surroundings and take my eyes off the Lamb of God. My eyes need to be ever on Jesus, who is the Faithful and True, the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great! Revelation 19:5b

Praying for Others

Jesus said, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:44-45a

Jesus modeled this when he prayed for those who crucified Him in Luke 23:34.

Stephen did likewise when he prayed for those who were stoning him in Acts 7:60.

And yet at my slightest offense or difficulty, I forget to pray for others with their good in mind.

Instead, I find myself praying for my benefit, so that I might be treated more to my liking. But how misguided I am when I do that. I need to be praying for people for their eternal good, not to make my life easier.

Just Wait

Changes may leave gaps of time in our lives. I sometimes fear I will not spend that time well and look for yet another project.

A friend reminded me of the Bible verse that says, ‘Do not anxiously look about you’.

The words are found in Isaiah 41:10 in the New American Standard Bible:
Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

These words gave me the confidence to be quiet and wait with the Lord, trusting He will direct my next steps in His time.
